Milltech is an independent training organisation with over 35 years experience in helping young people achieve nationally recognised qualifications and employment.
Below is a list of all of our friendly members of staff with our working backgrounds and what we do on a day-to-day basis here at Milltech Training.
Derek Freeman - Managing Director
Derek took over Milltech in 2006 after over 30 years in the retail motor industry. He is very enthusiastic about creating a team of high quality Training and Management personnel to ensure that learners in Sunderland achieve a good start in their business careers.
Donna Dickman - Administration Manager
I started with Milltech in August 2013 as Funding Co-ordinator, my main responsibility is to ensure that government funded paperwork is completed correctly and meets all requirements for apprentices on board and that these are recorded accurately on our Management Information System.
I also create and update reports using this information for the Management Team and the Education Skills Funding Agency.

Judith Graham - Business Skills Training Officer & IQA
I have been working in the training industry for over 15 years and gained my Assessors Award a decade ago and then achieved my IQA award.
I really enjoy my role at Milltech as a Training Officer and IQA, where I strive to give the highest standard of coaching and support to learners I can and gain job satisfaction from the development of others.
Emma Brett - Business Skills Training Officer
I have been in the training industry for over 10 years in which I train, develop and coach people in their workplace. The qualifications I deliver are Management, Business & Administration, Customer Service, Team Leading, Sales and IT User.
As well as this, I am also a trained IQA, which is to monitor the work of all Training Officers involved with the qualification, to ensure that they are applying the assessment criteria for the competency of skills consistently throughout all assessment activities.
Mark Clelland MBA, Grad IOSH, CMGR - Leadership & Management Tutor
Mark has a comprehensive background working as a senior manager in both the public and private sector. He is a qualified teacher and consultant delivering management and leadership training up to Master’s Degree Level. He has over 15 years’ experience as a training and development consultant and has an excellent track record in learner achievement, supporting them in gaining their qualifications.
He also has detailed experience in delivering training and development to the care sector as well as employability training and working closely with the charity sector to support them in compliance and training for volunteers and staff. Mark has delivered training in a number of subject areas including Health & Safety Subject, First Aid, Customer Service, Business Administration, SIA (Security Sector) qualifications and Personal Licence holders as well as Mental Health training and Health and Social Care subjects.
Mark is also a qualified Driving and Fleet Instructor, approved and registered with the Driving Standards Agency and qualified to offer Advice and Guidance up to Level 4 as well as offer consultancy service on food safety, business management and change as well as support on continuous improvement and business planning and performance management.

Automotive Skills Team
Kevin Giles - Automotive Skills Training Officer, Health & Safety Manager and Lead Safeguarding Officer
I am a Motor Vehicle Training Officer, overseeing all aspects of the Motor Vehicle department. I also teach up to Level 3 Technical Certificate to Advanced Apprentices to develop their skills on the changing vehicle technology. I am also the companies Health & Safety Manager and Safeguarding Co-ordinator, keeping up to date with all changes to do with work placements.
Graeme Bell - Automotive Skills Training Officer & Tutor
I joined Milltech as a Training Officer and bring almost 35 years experience within the Motor Trade, both in the Vehicle Maintenance and Training areas of the sector. My strengths include being able to work closely with employers of all sizes to help develop the skills and knowledge of their employees.
I am currently delivering training to Milltech’s Automotive Apprentices and Trainees as well as conducting workplace assessments throughout the North East.
Danielle Brown - Automotive Administrator
I have worked in the training sector for over 10 years, where in this time I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience. I previously worked within the Sales & Marketing team alongside our Placement Team, where I helped and supported them.
My main responsibility is dealing with all Learner Applications from application to being successful in the working environment. I also deal with all learner analysis reports and traineeships.
I work within with Motor Vehicle department as their administrator taking care of the day to day working documents.
Edwina Freeman - Invigilator Officer
My job role is to invigilate the exams that Learners sit as part of their Qualifications. An Invigilator makes sure that the candidate is happy with their surroundings before they sit their test and to make sure that the tests run smoothly. I often go to workplaces to carry out these tests because I want the learner to feel as comfortable as possible to have the best chance of success.
Margaret Imms - Functional Skills Tutor
My roles within Milltech Training are working as a Functional Skills and Additional Learning Needs Tutor.
I teach Business & Administration, Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, Personal and Social Development and Prepare for Employment as part of the programme.
My role also involves working alongside the Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship Department helping learners complete their Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT up to Level 2.
I have worked in the training and education areas for over 15 years, with a variety of different learners in different training environments from Schools to Specialist College for learners with additional needs.
Aaron Rutter - Recruitment Officer
I first joined Milltech in June 2017 after being offered an apprenticeship with Milltech in the Recruitment Team. At Milltech, I am responsible for the recruitment of new learners and their placements with suitable employers. I send out invitations to new applicants and conduct our Apprenticeship Preview Event every Wednesday at 9.30am.
I am currently completing my Level 2 Customer Service Qualification and will shortly go on to my Level 3 programme.
Robyn Taylor - Claims Administrator
I joined Milltech in November 2012 as the main receptionist which consisted of meeting and greeting all learners and visitors into our building. I now work in the Administration Team with Donna Dickman.
At Milltech Training, I have gained my Level 2 and Level 3 in Business Administration and IT User Level 2 and Level 3.
