Milltech is an independent training organisation with over 30 years experience in helping young people achieve nationally recognised qualifications and employment. Below is a list of all of our friendly members of staff with our working backgrounds and what we do on a day-to-day basis here at Milltech Training.
Derek Freeman - Managing Director
Derek took over Milltech in 2006 after over 30 years in the retail motor industry. He is very enthusiastic about creating a team of high quality Training and Management personnel to ensure that learners in Sunderland achieve a good start in their business careers.
Donna Dickman - Administration Manager
I started with Milltech in August 2013 as Funding Co-ordinator, my main responsibility is to ensure that government funded paperwork is completed correctly and meets all requirements for apprentices on board and that these are recorded accurately on our Management Information System.
I also create and update reports using this information for the Management Team and the Education Skills Funding Agency.
Carole Thain - Team Leader, Business Skills Training Officer/Internal Verifier
I have worked in the Training sector for over 10 years as an assessor, internal verifier and a trainer/tutor, delivering NVQ’s across the following areas: Customer Service, Business & Administration, Management, Team Leading and Information, Advice and Guidance.
I joined Milltech in June 2011; my main responsibilities are to assess and verify Management and Team Leading qualifications, developing and supporting learners to achieve their qualifications and teaching apprentices to achieve their Business & Administration and Customer Service.
Keeley Usher - Business Skills Training Officer and Internal Auditor
I joined Milltech in June 2013 as a Business Skills Training Officer. My role involves supporting learners to achieve qualifications in Business & Administration, Customer Service, IT User and Functional Skills. I have over 15 years’ experience working within the training provision in a variety of roles; and believe work based learning is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience that leads to sustainable employment.
I am committed to supporting learners to achieve their goals and ambitions through training as they work towards nationally recognised qualifications. Part of my role as Auditor is to ensure that processes and procedures are followed and regularly checked through providing management information to ensure compliance with ESFA and Ofsted requirements.
Haley Williams-Dixon - Business Skills Training Officer
I joined Milltech in March 2011 as a Business Skills Training Officer. I currently deliver a wide variety of qualifications including Business & Administration up to Level 4, Management, Customer Service, Sales & Telesales and Catering & Hospitality.
My main role is to support my learners through all aspects of the qualifications and deliver training in the workplace when needed. I encourage my learners utilise the training, skills and qualifications they gain and progress further in their employment when possible.
Emma Brett - Business Skills Training Officer
I have been in the training industry for over 10 years in which I train, develop and coach people in their workplace. The qualifications I deliver are Management, Business & Administration, Customer Service, Team Leading, Sales and IT User.
As well as this, I am also a trained Internal Verifier, which is to monitor the work of all assessors involved with the qualification, to ensure that they are applying the assessment criteria for the competency of skills consistently throughout all assessment activities.
Judith Graham - Business Skills Training Officer/Internal Verifier
I have been working in the training industry for over 15 years and gained my Assessors Award a decade ago and then my IV award.
I really enjoy my role at Milltech as an Assessor and an Internal Verifier, where I strive to give the highest standard of coaching and support to learners I can and gain job satisfaction from the development of others.
Motor Vehicle Team
Graeme Bell - Automotive Skills Training Officer & Tutor
I joined Milltech as a Training Officer and bring almost 35 years experience within the Motor Trade, both in the Vehicle Maintenance and Training areas of the sector. My strengths include being able to work closely with employers of all sizes to help develop the skills and knowledge of their employees.
I am currently delivering training to Milltech’s Automotive Apprentices as well as conducting workplace assessments throughout the North East.
Kevin Giles - Automotive Skills Training Officer, Health & Safety Manager and Lead Safeguarding Officer
I am a Motor Vehicle Training Officer, overseeing all aspects of the Motor Vehicle department. I also teach Level 3 Technical Certificate to advanced apprentices to develop their skills on the changing vehicle technology. Also I am the companies Health & Safety Manager and Safeguarding Co-ordinator, keeping up to date with all changes to do with work placements.
Danielle Brown - Automotive Recruitment
I have worked in the training sector for over 10 years now as an administrator, where in this time I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience. I previously worked within the Sales & Marketing team alongside our Placement Team, where I helped and supported them as much as I could throughout my day.
My main responsibility was dealing with all Learner Applications from them applying for an Apprenticeship to being successful in the working environment. I also deal with all learner analysis reports, internal/external questionnaires.
I now work within with Motor Vehicle department as their administrator taking care of the day to day working documents.
Edwina Freeman - Invigilator Officer
My job role is to invigilate the exams that Learners sit as part of their Qualifications whether it be their Functional Skills or Technical Certificate. An Invigilator makes sure that the candidate is happy with their surroundings before they sit their test and to make sure that the tests run smoothly. I often go to workplaces to carry out these tests this is because I want the learner to feel as comfortable as possible to have the best chance of success.
Margaret Imms - Functional Skills Tutor
My roles within Milltech Training are working as a Functional Skills Tutor and Additional Learning Needs Tutor.
I teach Business & Administration, Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, Personal and Social Development and Prepare for Employment as part of the programme.
My role also involves working alongside the Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship Department helping learners complete their Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT up to Level 2.
I have worked in the training and education areas for over 15 years. I have worked with a variety of different learners in different training environments from Schools to Specialist College for learners with additional needs.
Aaron Rutter - Apprentice Administrator
I first joined Milltech in June 2017 as an Administration Apprentice. My job consists of managing all Learner Applicants, maintaining our Customer Relations Management System and operating the company’s Questionnaire System and preparing the monthly analysis. I am also in charge of the company’s Social Media and Website Updates as well as producing the termly ‘Milltech Newsletter’ and marketing material.
Robyn Taylor - Claims Administrator
I joined Milltech in November 2012 as the main receptionist which consisted of meeting and greeting all learners and visitors into our building. I now work in the Administration Team with Donna.
