
Infection Prevention and Control in Care – Level 2
The objective of the RSPH Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control is to cover the principles of infection control through application of the ‘chain of infection’ and the ‘standard infection control precautions’.
The purpose of this qualification is for learners to obtain a knowledge and understanding of; the importance of infection control and prevention, associated infectious and non-infectious hazards, good infection practice and controls based upon an awareness of the chain of infection and standard infection control precautions.
This qualification is on The Education and Skills Funding Agency list of qualifications approved for funding.
This qualification is regulated by Ofqual and Qualification Wales.
The QA Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility in infection prevention and control within their job roles, such as: care assistants, health care workers or other healthcare environments.
Over a half day period, Learners will develop a greater understanding of the principles of infection prevention and control. Topics covered include: personal hygiene, roles and responsibilities in relation to infection prevention and control and minimising the risk of infection in a Health Care setting.
