
Level 2 Award CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) in the Private Security Sector Industry
This regulated qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a CCTV operative.
The minimum contact hours for this qualification are 23 hours of the required 32 guided learning hours.
This qualification is suitable for learners over the age of 18. It is delivered over 3 days with a large amount of pre-course reading and written tasks to complete. Full details will be sent out to you.
The qualification comprises three mandatory units:
- Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 2 – Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 3 – Practical Operation of CCTV equipment within the Private Security Industry

This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 18 and over.Security operatives are likely, during their work, to be required to make calls to the emergency services, and communicate clearly to resolve conflict. It is therefore essential that security operatives can communicate clearly.
Each learner must be sufficiently competent in the use of the English language. All assessment must be conducted in the medium of English, as appropriate.
